Benedict XVI’s Ordinary Public Consistory will be
held in St. Peter’s Basilica on 24 November at 11:00.
The Consistory
will celebrate the creation of 6 new cardinals, the imposition of the
biretta, the consignment of the ring and the assignment of the title of
Diaconate.
Courtesy visits to the new cardinals will be paid
on Saturday 24 November between 16:30 and 18:30. Locations will be
announced shortly.
On Sunday 25 November, the day of the Feast of Christ
the King, the Pope will celebrate mass along with the six new
cardinals, at 9:30 in St. Peter’s Basilica.
The new cardinals are: the American James Michael
Harvey, currently Prefect of the Papal Household, the Lebanese Maronite
Patriarch, Bechara Boutros Rai, the Indian Major Archbishop of
Trivandrum, Baselios Cleemis Thottunkal, the Nigerian Archbishop of
Abuja, John Olorunfemi Onaiyekan, the Colombian Archbishop of Bogotá,
Ruben Salazar Gómez and the Philippine Archbishop of Manila, Luis
Antonio Tagle.
No Europeans are being created bishops on this occasion.
