FLYING nun Sr Patricia Wall is drumming up support
for her fundraising skydive, which will see the 75-year-old take a leap
of faith from 10,000 feet.
The Presentation Sister from Ballingarry, Thurles, Co Tipperary,
took to the pitch at the Tipperary v Kilkenny match in Semple Stadium
where she addressed the crowd before throw-in and asked them to support
her worthy cause.
Depression
She brought rival managers Brian Cody and Eamon O'Shea together for a handshake before the game got under way.
Sr Patricia will undertake her skydive in Birr, Co Offaly, in May and
hopes to raise €150,000 for Aware, the - charity that helps people
affected by depression, and a number of other projects in her community.
After joining her order at the age of 17, she worked in New Zealand where she suffered from severe depression.
However, it was an experience that has stayed with her and now the former teacher wants to help others who have the illness.
