Five new lawsuits have been filed against the Joliet Diocese of the
Catholic Church by people who say they were abused by priests and by a
non-priest teacher. The alleged incidents happened in the 1970s and 1980s when the plaintiffs were between the ages of 8 and 16.
All say they suppressed the memories until recently.
The suits claim the diocese knew or should have known what was going on.
A representative of the diocese says there will be no comment because they haven't seen the lawsuits.
