Pope Francis has lent his support to a national Brazilian initiative to eliminate child labor.
Writing to the cardinal archbishop of Aparecida, Pope Francis said
that children are a “sign of hope” who should be “welcomed, loved,
protected by a wise family, a better society, a more human world.”
The Pope wrote his letter as the Church in Brazil begins a year
commemorating the 300th anniversary of the discovery of the image of Our
Lady of Aparecida.
